Back in the groove:

A move in 1987 to Huntington, Long Island, while conducive to family life, marked a musical hiatus or sorts. Bleeker and MacDougal were suddenly a long way away and, besides, by the late 80s the scene in The Village was changing. Roger didn't return to public performance until 1998 when he debuted two new tunes at a Hard Luck Cafe open mic, put on by the Folk Music Society of Huntington. Encouraged by the words of Little Toby Walker, who had also played that evening, Roger rededicated himself to his passion. He's been active on the scene ever since.

At the same time as he was developing a new repertoire of original material and refining his performing skills by playing open mics and scoring some solo gigs, he co-founded the band Jericho Turnpike in 2001. By some yardsticks, Jericho Turnpike was Roger's most successful group and certainly the one with the most water underneath its bridge. But the band never made the leap into the studio and by November 2004, Jericho Turnpike basically dissolved.

Armed with a bag of original tunes that had been well road tested, Roger entered the studio in January 2005 to record what would become Sketches & Footprints. The 6 song EP was released in July 2005. The record features performances by friends Mike Nugent, Cliff Hackford, and Leslie Zimei from Cadillac Moon; Jeff "Madawg" Rubenstein, Russ Rogers, and Spring Palser from String Alley; and longtime musical soul brother Steve (the Ace of Bass) Blatt from Jericho Turnpike. Also, Mike Nugent produced and engineered.

And brings us to the end of Chapter One. Roger hopes to write a Chapter Two. But with music very much front and center, this is one story will definitely turn out alright!!!
